How do you make our customers happy?
Bol.com wants to provide everything customers desire. At highly competitive prices. And with the expected quality. Due to the huge number of products on offer (32 million and counting), a leisurely browse in our warehouses is out of the question. Likewise, however much we’d love to, we can’t meet over coffee with 51.000 partners to discuss their products’ merits and shortcomings. Enter Assortment & Selling, the domain that provides our product teams with the necessary insights to separate the wheat from the chaff. In this role, you help colleagues understand what drives user behavior, translate insights into recommendations, and safeguard our high analysis standards.
What you do as Product Analyst Assortment & Selling
The e-commerce market is rapidly expanding and highly fluid. We need to recognize and control many moving parts to maintain and grow the optimal customer and partner platform. The main domain challenge? To remain the #1 platform by providing customers with a deep and wide assortment, at competitive price levels, without ever missing a quality beat. After all, growth initiatives should never jeopardize customer happiness. But how can we track our performance in this field? How can we make our product’s impact on the company’s overall results visible and quantifiable? And how can we make sure our actions and choices don’t negatively impact the customer experience, even temporarily?
Analyze our efforts and translate your insights into actionable recommendations for our products. Ultimately, you set out to create value. For your product. And for in- and external customers. As a Product Analyst, you are ideally positioned to drive data-driven decision-making processes (continue/pivot/kill) by weighing in during exploratory stages and ongoing experiments. We also expect you to support your Product Manager with the right insights to validate the strategic direction of the product.
- Apply your SQL and Python skills to transform data into insights and clearly define our product metrics: you know exactly what drives us!
- Run experiments and perform statistical tests to ‘discover the unknown,’ monitor to what extent innovations yield the desired results, and advise changes
- Visualize and safeguard the products’ Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and discuss results with product team colleagues
- Help your team create a state-of-the-art analytics environment in the Google Cloud (Examples: Git, Airflow, dbt)
- Translate user data findings into recommendations and opportunities for product teams
- Dive in and develop an in-depth understanding of the drivers of user behavior
- Promote our analytics platform and help products embrace a more data-driven approach, e.g., through innovation impact analysis
Why you can make the difference?
Because you’re an enthusiastic team player who lives and breathes analytics. You combine solid technical skills with the ability to translate ‘abstract’ insights into concrete improvement proposals. You enjoy discussing insights with colleagues and practically invented the feedback loop. You inspire your team to reframe challenges as opportunities. And finally, because you get a kick out of helping bol.com retain its number one e-commerce position in the Netherlands and Belgium!
3 reasons why this is (not) for you
- - Opinions are slippery creatures You have a hard time forming and expressing your opinions. In meetings, you tend to nod a lot. Often off.
- - Results are a byproduct If the analysis is complete, your job is done. What people do with those results is their business.
- - Five-point harness preferred You distrust new techniques and methods, and you’re so risk-averse you installed a five-point harness and airbags on your bike
- + Always learning You are already well-versed in your field and would love to learn more about analytics, software development, and product-led ways of working
- + You happily experiment the day away Research and experimentation are like candy to you, and even tastier with a dollop of SQL and Python
- + You contribute on all levels You love sharing your unique knowledge and feel the same about learning from others: the more we share, the stronger the team and department will become
This is where you’ll work
As a Product Analyst, you will work in a dual role in a cross-functional team. Within your own team of Product Analysts, you will develop your skills, uphold our analytical quality standards, and discuss hard topics that could impact the future of our Product Department significantly. Additionally, you will be part of a data-driven community within the Assortment & Selling domain. Here, you will work with multiple product teams, discuss insights with product managers, help engineers find anomalies, and assist data scientists.
It is our responsibility to enable an environment that unleashes the power of diversity.
