How do you make our customers happy?
Advertising plays an increasingly important part in bol.com’s overall strategy. On the one hand, we strive to maximize campaign performance for the 10.000+ (e)tailers and brands that use our Advertising via Bol.com proposition. On the other hand, we want to ensure that all ad views increase customer happiness, e.g. by helping customers find precisely the right products for themselves and their loved ones. Ultimately, ad relevance benefits everyone! In this role, you help build, analyze and optimize the technology that powers our sponsored advertising proposition. And it’s up to you to determine what causes optimal relevance.
Users include advertisers, agencies, publishers and our sales teams. This means that gathering and analyzing data to underpin product decisions, including market research, customer feedback, and performance metrics is a key element of your job.
The biggest challenge
One of our domain’s perennial questions is how to maximize the performance of advertising budgets, so they receive optimal value for money. This touches on various topics, including matching, increasing relevance, expanding self-service options, and determining the most impactful advertising moments during the customer journey. So this is all very much in scope. Moreover, as a product-led company, we embrace a customer-centric approach. Choices should be informed by data, and we evaluate decisions based on their outcome rather than output. We also want to be accountable and expand our tech, data, design, and product capabilities. How can we optimize advertiser journeys and make them more inspiring and valuable in terms of conversion? And what does that imply for our customers? These questions are always top of mind…
What you’ll do as Product Analyst Performance advertising?
As a subject matter expert you make it your mission to provide timely and accurate data analytics, both proactively and upon stakeholders request. You have an in-depth understanding of how our product works and what drives user behavior. You validate the value of current and future technical capabilities. Identify potential risks and opportunities and conduct iteration-based experiments. And always operate from the customer’s perspective. Lay the optimal groundwork for our development teams; as bringing complex messages through compelling storytelling. A mission critical role, because this is a relatively new domain in a booming market.
That calls for serious deep dives into the data, and an aptitude for aligning a myriad of stakeholders. The setting of the product is complex. For one, you can’t ‘just’ zoom in on details, because you have to take the overall strategy into account. You’ll approach problems from all angles, determine root causes, dependencies, and overall impact, and come up with creative solutions. And you’ll verify the validity and added value of your solutions through iterative experimentation, often working closely with the data scientists and engineers in the team, while keeping all stakeholders firmly in the loop.
Given the team’s strategic focus and importance, we expect it to continue growing in the coming years. We require additional resilience and load capacity. You can chip in by helping the team keep close tabs on innovations by sister Advertising via bol.com teams, with plenty of room for our own innovations to improve our product-led way of working.
