How do you make our customers happy?

By ensuring they can find and explore our inspiring inventory at lightning speed! Because online shopping often starts with a simple search term. Like ‘white sneakers.’ So we want our white sneakers to rank prominently in the organic search results. Just like all of the other 30+ million articles on our shopping platform.

The biggest challenge

Is how to always present the right page to customers in the organic search results. That might sound simple, but you of all people know how hard this is. How can we help search engines crawl and index our vast amount of pages? And then rank the content as high as possible for the correct search terms with attractive snippets. All so we can help our customers find what they’re looking for.

What you’ll do as Product Manager SEO

Your tech team works closely with the SEO business team to get the most out of SEO. The SEO business team, consisting of the Head of SEO and a team of SEO specialists, focuses on SEO in its entirety.  With the tech team, you look at how you can make the most impactful contribution to this through development of software products. Products range from highly technical backend microservices for the webshop to tools for content specialists and other internal stakeholders.

To make it more concrete, the team works on generating the most optimal URLs and SEO metadata. We also create automatically generated sitemaps with millions of products and ensure that the right data is available. Such as search engine log files and rankings using external (Google) APIs.

We also build and optimize tools that enable content and SEO specialists to improve category pages. You are in charge of maximizing value by determining which epics the team works on. Guided by a clear vision and strategy, you invariably select the most promising opportunities. You involve relevant stakeholders proactively and create buy-in and commitment. This can be challenging at times because you often depend on other teams to turn your ideas into deliverables that customers can use. Your domain knowledge and persuasiveness will serve you well in this role as tech SEO ambassador.

As the product manager SEO

  • You are also part of a broader tech product team which focuses on the tech side of performance marketing channels. Think of feeds for Google ads, affiliate APIs, and so forth. Larger projects can even transcend individual channels and be of significant value to as a whole. In these cases, individual product tech teams suspend their focus on specific marketing channels and pull together to realize grander aspirations. We are looking for someone who will also eagerly take up these wide-reaching, cross-functional projects.
  • Responsible for the tech team’s outcome. You determine how we can maximize our value. From idea to delivery.
  • Devise and generate buy-in for a clear product vision and strategy.
  • Inform and activate a broad stakeholder field, including SEO business, UX, webshop (foundation), and colleagues from your own product.
  • Innovate and improve our Google-readiness (optimized sitemap, robots.txt, hfreflang) and realize business tools to refine content.
  • Continuously study market developments and opportunities to improve our customer performance.

3 reasons why this is (not) for you

  • - Proactivity is overrated Let other people figure out ideas for improvements and identify opportunities.
  • - Solo role preferred You avoid stakeholder confrontations, lay low in meetings, and prefer to navigate SEO terrain solo.
  • - Engineers don’t get SEO Just your opinion? It’s common knowledge that engineers don’t get SEO. Trying to educate them, and explaining your decisions would be futile.
  • + Clear vision You are an experienced product manager that knows how to come up with a well-defined vision & strategy.
  • + Tech SEO nerd You geek out about everything tech SEO-related and follow trends closely. The intricacies of crawling, hreflang, and log files are crystal clear to you.
  • + Inspirational influencer You have a talent for inspiring and uniting people. And you don’t mind sharing your SEO story with non-techies.

This is where you’ll work

As product manager SEO, you directly contribute to’s success and have an opportunity to fast-track customers’ way to their favorite products.
