How do you make our customers happy?
Together with about 47,000 partner sellers that do business on our retail tech platform, bol.com is changing retail to make daily life simpler for roughly 12 million customers. Jointly, we present an assortment of some 34 million products. This means every aspect of our platform needs to be scalable, reliable and secure. This not only pertains to the way that we build and deploy our solutions, as it also requires us to provide a selection of components as building blocks that can be used by our development teams. The goal is to enable our developers to deliver their innovations to our customers faster and in a more secure manner each day.
The biggest challenge
Over 800 IT colleagues rely on our platform to provide services, fundamental building blocks, and IT infrastructure that lets them generate business value. The technical platform is operated by 70 engineers and is at the heart of our IT environment. We expect the platform to increasingly contribute to bol.com’s innovation speed. But how can the platform best meet the needs of engineers? How can we make life easier for autonomous innovation teams that embrace the You build it, You run it, You love it paradigm? Due to the number and diversity of platform features, tools, and solutions, our engineers deal with a lot of complexity and experience significant cognitive load. As a Product Owner you will work with a talented team of people that are obsessed with providing an awesome developer experience that reduces this load.
What you do as Product Owner CI/CD
In this role you will be responsible for offering standardized building blocks to our IT development teams in the areas of continuous delivery. By offering this centrally and scalable, we can make sure teams can deliver secure solutions to all of our engineers without having the overhead of building & operating their own tooling stack. This way we lower the cognitive load of the IT development teams and enable them to focus on creating business value. The team that you will be responsible for is a key part of bol.com as a whole, and a member of the Technical Platform Services.
The main objective of the team is to provide the best possible solution to all of our engineers to build and deploy their applications. As a Product Owner you will work with a team of DevOps engineers in a thriving agile environment. You and the team are supported by a Product Manager, an Engineering Manager, an Architect, and a Tech Lead. It is up to you to help your team discover opportunities, surmount challenges and, ultimately, deliver the right value at the right time.
- You prioritize work for the team and strive to maximize the value they deliver
- You inspire your agile team and translate abstract goals into tangible results
- You enable your team to apply the right techniques during each phase of the agile, lean development process
- You actively promote product discovery and experimentation
- You liaise with your stakeholders to measure the success of your deliverables
3 reasons why this is (not) for you
- - You’re scared of knots Tying a multitude of ideas together is not your forte
- - You only thrive in stable settings You enjoy the view from the beaten path
- - You ship and run You feel you are done when shipping
- + Your track-record resonates You have 3+ years of experience as a Product Manager or Product Owner
- + Building bridges is your hobby You can build bridges and connect all stakeholders with your team
- + You know how to make ‘no’ sound good You know when ‘no’ is the right answer, and how to convey that message well, so the relationship doesn’t suffer
This is where you’ll work
At one of the best-known online retail tech platforms in the Netherlands and Belgium. A platform where roughly 12 million customers can choose from ~34 million articles. A platform that helps about 47,000 commercial partners run their businesses. And a platform that will never be ‘finished’ because bol.com has been reinventing retail since 1999, and we always will be. If there’s a better way to do something, we’re on it! Together with our customers, partners, and over 2,500 colleagues.
It is our responsibility to enable an environment that unleashes the power of diversity.
