How do you delight our customers?
Bol.com continuously advances its platform to create a better tomorrow for over 12 million customers and over 50,000 trading partners. No small feat. Our advertising offerings, which help shoppers discover products and advertisers reach customers, play a key role in bol.com’s ambitions – and here is where you’ll make the difference. Because data informs decisions, frames conversations, and changes perceptions and you rise to the occasion to ensure it is used effectively and responsibly.
The biggest challenge
Advertising via Bol is growing at a fast clip, becoming increasingly important for bol.com. The number of colleagues, the complexity of our tech, and the volume of initiatives are rapidly expanding. Data needs are no exception. To continue to scale at high velocity it is important that we need meaningful metrics and dimensions to help us talk about our business, insightful analyses, and reliable predictive models. As senior data analyst your contributions here will be invaluable!
What you’ll do as a senior data analyst
You’ll join a group of data professionals in bol.com’s advertising analytics team, that aims to make people, programs, and products in the advertising organization more performant through data. This job is for the versatile analyst, one that is equally comfortable talking to data as to stakeholders. Your days vary but at the core you’ll use SQL/Python/Tableau to provide metrics, analysis, and predictions that help the business and advertisers make better decisions.
As senior analyst you take point on high impact topics. You develop deep domain knowledge and apply it to create language around our data that is easily interpretable for our internal customers. You then apply that language to deliver insights and predictions through dashboards and/or presentations that are so crisp and engaging they would even make good bathroom reading.
You also help the team evolve our craft and ensure we stay at the forefront of analytics. You’re a critical thinker and raise the bar on analysis techniques and KPI development. Trying novel methods and techniques? Right up your alley! Venturing into previously explored data sets and topics? Just your thing! 0 to 1 projects? Your specialism!
- You work closely with business stakeholders (Leadership, Product teams, sales teams, operation teams) and translate their challenges into an organized roadmap of analytics work.
- Autonomously prioritize, design, and perform analysis and deliver dashboards in tableau for self-service analysis.
- Build up extensive domain knowledge so you can effectively develop, monitor, and safeguard the advertising’s business KPIs
- You write high quality and easily interpretable SQL and Python code that can be reused by colleagues and scales easily as data volumes increase.
- You make meaningful contributions to decision making processes and can represent the data perspective in a clear and compelling manner.
3 reasons why this is (not) for you
- - If you strongly value clarity No, if innovating on behalf of the team, autonomy and ambiguity sound terrifying to you.
- - You only want to process data No, if you only want to process data and think we should get someone else to handle the project and stakeholder management
- - If you believe analysts do not need domain knowledge No, if you do not want to dive into the world of advertising. A willingness to be curious and learn about our domain and our customers is a key ingredient of our recipe to making analysts successful.
- + You’re a leader in analytics practices Yes, if you have 5+ years' experience with SQL and python and can teach less experienced analysts a thing or two about the craft. Experience with dbt, airflow, and git is a strong plus.
- + Obsess over building the right things Yes, if for you it is not just about delivering output. You strongly feel output does not equal outcome and judge success by value creation. You have experience doing this.
- + You get (and create) energy by working with other Yes, if you are well versed in translating technical stuff into language that anyone from the CEO to interns can comprehend. You get energy from both working with data and people.
This is where you’ll work
