How do you make our customers happy?

Bol.com is transforming retail to simplify life for ~11 million customers. We’re not going about that alone, but in collaboration with 35,000 partner sellers, who all enrich our retail tech platform with their own unique propositions. We want to empower our partners with real-time insights into sales, revenues, returns, forecasts, offers, conversions, visits, et cetera. Insights, in short, that help them maximize customer value. As Front-End Developer Partner Tools, you help shape this partner experience, so they can make data-driven decisions that benefit our customers.

Your responsibilities as Front-End Developer

  • You develop dashboards and tools that empower 35,000 partner sellers
  • You set up endpoints in small web apps (SWAPS)
  • You maintain and continually improve on the ecosystem of pages in the seller portal
  • You deploy your own fixes, features and pages
  • You develop hypotheses, propose new features, and conduct experiments to assess added value

As Front-End Developer Partner Tools you team up with our passionate Teraplex crew of engineers, a data analyst and our esteemed product owner 😉 All of whom take pride in their work and are eager to take the next step to empower seller partners. Our approach is pragmatic and pioneering: we strongly believe an environment that encourages autonomy, ownership and open communication is key. So that’s how we tackle all challenges, such as translating complex data into easily digestible content on partner pages – info that helps them to analyze and optimize their offers continuously and effortlessly.

You will collaborate with backend engineers to set up endpoints in our SWAPS environment and translate these into dashboards and tools that 35,000 seller partners use daily. And yes, we manage our own SWAPS, so you get to decide how you set up your build, what stack you use and which libraries and frameworks you employ. We also invite you to maintain and improve on the current ecosystem of pages hosted in the seller portal. And to deploy and maintain your own fixes, features and pages. Lastly, you will assist the Product Owner in developing new ideas and features, leveraging experiments, data and user feedback to improve the pages from functional and user perspectives.

3 reasons why this is(n’t) for you

  • Yes, if you are an open-minded, down to earth engineer with strong JavaScript skills and an almost childlike curiosity and desire to learn and create
  • Yes, if you are passionate about building good-looking dashboards, pages and tools
  • Yes, if you like to create quick proofs of concepts to either prove or invalidate (hey, it’s a valuable result) your hypotheses
  • No, if you dislike collaborating with UX designers and other colleagues; openly sharing ideas and insights isn’t your thing
  • No, if you never question team decisions – you have zero countervailing power and go with the flow
  • No, if you have no experience with AngularJS, Typescript or similar JS Frameworks

Where you’ll work

At the premier online retail tech platform in the Netherlands and Belgium. A platform where 11 million Dutch and Belgian customers can choose from over 20 million articles. A platform that helps 35,000 commercial partners run their businesses. And a platform that will never be ‘finished’, because bol.com has been reinventing retail since 1999. And we always will be. If there’s a better way to do something, we’re working on it! Together with our customers, partners, and over 2,000 colleagues. And hopefully together with you. You are a (welcome!) addition to the Teraplex team, and will work closely with engineers, a data analyst, the product owner and business stakeholders, including UX designers. Our tech community shares an ambition to work hard and play hard in equal measure. Our teams deploy their own code to the production environment. And you can socialize on our soccer field, in the games room and in the bar on Friday afternoons. Gezellig!

How it works

  1. Carefully, we take a look at your application. Within 2 weeks you know if we invite you for an interview.
  2. We call you to set up an interview. And since we’re already talking: feel free to ask any question you may have.
  3. In this first interview we’ll get to know each other. We want to find out more about you. Work experience is interesting, but we also want to find out more about you as a person. Together, we’ll find out if this job is a match made in heaven.
  4. Before the next interview we will ask you to take an online assessment. We’ll also discuss the position and your team in depth.
  5. 2 interviews are usually enough to see if it’s a match. And if you agree… well, it’s the beautiful beginning of your career at bol.com :)
