Bol.com is transforming retail to simplify everyday life for 11.5 million customers. Not in a vacuum, but together with ~35,000 partner sellers who do business on our retail tech platform. We’re building revolutionary tools to help accelerate their success. For example our API, that 11,000 partners use to interact with the platform more efficiently. We’re still improving this API daily (ease of use, scalability, speed, and so forth). Can you analyze where and how our developers can add the most value? Become the ultimate Homo sAPIens!
Your responsibilities as Information Analyst / Business Analyst
- Analyze an incredible amount of API-related information
- Identify (looming) issues and (potential) opportunities: how can we make our API partners even happier?
- Help shape the roadmap and drive the process to set priorities
- Translate insights into manageable plans that developers are eager to get started on
- Regularly touch base with the teams: are we focusing on the right issues?
- Challenge developers to think and work from a partner-centric perspective
As Information Analyst / Business Analyst, you and your colleagues in the sAPI team improve and innovate an API that helps 11k partner sellers conduct business on bol.com. An impactful role for our partners, as well as for our mutual customers and the commercial performance of the entire platform, because ‘API partners’ account for roughly half of the total revenue. It’s up to you to determine how we should improve our scalable API solution and make it more partner-centric. What is it great at, and where is room for improvement? Dive deep under the hood of the API engine to analyze weaknesses and opportunities. Translate complex insights into crystal clear requirements and help set the priority of various initiatives. Advocate an outside-in approach and instill a partner-centric way of working by making the external API journey leading. We also expect you to develop and promote a holistic vision (do partners perceive the API landscape as a cohesive aspect of the platform?).

Because you’re an accomplished analyst. You love deep diving in 3.5 billion monthly transactions and invariably resurface with brilliant (eureka!) insights. Real success in this team also depends on your talent to put yourself in the customers’ shoes. New features are only amazing if our customers say they are. So you’ll need a partner-centric mindset and an ability to appraise (sometimes complex) API features with a helicopter view. We also expect you to enjoy teaming up with developers to tackle problems together. If you can also convey your vision and ideas with panache – including to the many internal stakeholders – you’re the Homo sAPIens we’re looking for.
