How do you make our customers happy?
At bol.com, IT is all about driving the best possible shopping experience for ~9 million customers. From finding that thoughtful gift for a loved one, to ordering the next size diapers for junior – there’s a personal story behind every purchase. But despite this myriad of backgrounds, all of our customers have one thing in common: they want their orders shipped asap. And that’s where you come in.
Your responsibilities as Performance Test Engineer
- Further develop, implement and coordinate an effective test strategy
- Write performance test scripts to secure the performance
- To achieve this, you have strong experience with LoadRunner / StormRunner or JMeter. Experience with Python, Grafana, Kibana, metrics and logging is nice to have
- Uphold the quality of the WMS implementation
As a Performance Test Engineer you get to test one of the most innovative warehouse management systems around, both in the development and production stages (checks and monitoring). A rewarding prospect for a Test Engineer who combines true testing passion with consultancy qualities and a healthy drive to pioneer. You and your team are responsible for maximizing the potential of this platform and coming up with solutions that meets ever-shifting business demands. You contribute to this ambition by formulating and implementing an intelligent test strategy that ruthlessly proves if the new platform meets our exacting expectations.
You will have to deconstruct and analyze business requirements at the process level in order to make and craft solid test plans. You’ll conduct tests and provide proactive counsel on opportunities and weaknesses. How can we solve bottlenecks? How can we ensure scalability? You’ll also take the lead in automating checks. Important, because short development cycles and deploying to production are often crucial. In the end, success in this role revolves around your vision on the test process, including functional testing, performance testing and automated checks.
Why you can make a difference
Because you are an enthusiastic and solution-oriented QA professional. You combine a genuine passion for testing with a can-do attitude. Obviously, you have complete command over modern test tooling and you bring a fresh perspective to performance testing. Communicative skills are a must because you’ll be sparring with business units almost daily. What works? What may work? What is impossible? You can elucidate with persuasion. You feel at home in an organization that explores and sometimes constructs new avenues and you are 100% deadline-proof.
3 reasons why this is(n’t) for you
- Because you have a Bachelor’s degree
- Because you are a catalyst of quality within an Agile team with automation experience
- Because you have (at least some, but the more, the merrier) experience with performance testing tools like LoadRunner / FrontRunner or JMeter
- Because it’s hard to empathize with end users. They’re always whining.
- Because you couldn’t care less about automated warehouses of the future
- Because you’re a soloist. Let colleagues find their own freaking solutions
Where you’ll work
As a Performance Test Engineer you operate within the multidisciplinary project team that conceptualizes implements, monitors and optimizes our WMS. The individual team members may change over time, but the team will always include WMS professionals and representatives from the business units. The culture is open, informal and down to earth. You can blow off steam in the games room, on our soccer field in Utrecht, or by running laps in our fulfillment center in Waalwijk. 😉 Our strength is based on our cooperation as equals and a drive to constantly improve each other. You can accomplish great things on your own as Performance Test Engineer, and even greater things with your team.
