What is If you put that question to our 10 million customers, the most common answer will be ‘an online store’. Hopefully preceded by ‘inspiring’, ‘enjoyable’ and ‘reliable’. But is also a platform, because many of our 20 million articles are sourced by commercial partners. And if you ask our IT professionals, you’ll come away thinking is a tech company. Which makes sense, as deploys close to 60 Scrum teams!

Your responsibilities as Manager IT Development

  • Manage 4 or 5 Scrum teams, including competency development and staffing
  • Stimulates operational excellence, resulting in continuous performance improvements
  • Point of contact for the business (requirements elicitation, incident escalation)
  • Initiates and directs the (many) IT programs and projects
  • Formulates and implements the technology vision, including standards, KPIs, et cetera

As Manager IT Development you are in charge of inspiring four or five multidisciplinary Scrum teams to greatness. A considerable responsibility, because the span of control is extensive (20-25 IT professionals) and ‘your’ teams work on projects that have a measurable impact on the internal and external customer experience. You are the link between the business and IT departments, who helps translate business requirements into scalable solutions and guides our path toward operational excellence.

What is the ideal team formation? What additional competencies and tooling do you require to attain development ambitions? How can you implement complex projects effectively, in a way that genuinely advances the business? And what opportunities do new technologies and methods open? You streamline development processes, constantly juggle several projects, and continuously evaluate the results and provide feedback.

There usually isn’t even time kick your feet up after a project goes live, because we operate by the you build it, you run it principle and if issues arise, your users will find you.

As Manager IT Development you work in the (quickly) beating heart of our IT organization; the Software Development department. From website to mobile platforms, and from product catalog to CRM systems; out IT professionals go all out to facilitate the organization. We always choose to keep (at least) one foot in the business.
