In 2017, bol.com opened one of the most sustainable, highly mechanized and largest fulfillment centers in the Netherlands. The brains behind this are a Hardis warehousing management system (Reflex). This WMS has incredible potential, but of course it does need to be tailored to our specific business needs. Only then can it add value for our colleagues and, more importantly, for the 10 million bol.com customers. And of course: the perfect flow today can be outdated tomorrow. So continuous fine-tuning is essential. As our software engineer, it’s your responsibility to keep the production systems up and running, You Build it, You Run it, You Love it!
Your responsibilities to develop new technical WMS solutions
- Help translate business processes into technical WMS solutions
- Zoom in on process implementations
- Develop WMS and Java code
- Optimize processes and configurations
- Design and execute tests
- Support and extend Java based services WMS
- Think like a DevOps
As Software engineer WMS/logistics you are in the unique position to perfect the warehouse management system of the largest e-commerce organization in the Netherlands and Belgium. In the implementation stage, you’ll be supported by Hardis professionals, so you’ll quickly gain in-depth knowledge of the (Adelia) development platform. Besides developing in Adelia you also must have proficient experience with Java development. Then it will be up to you to get the most out of the WMS system and maximize its business value. How can we visualize the workload of our fulfillment center colleagues? How do we optimize the put-away algorithm? And what impact do adjustments to the picking routes have?
In this role, you’ll work with our WMS Consultants to translate business requirements into technical solutions. And you’ll need to configure the platform before you can fine-tune it and develop extensions. Additionally, you’re responsible for testing the system. A great opportunity to put all of your technical know-how to good use. This isn’t just another project, it’s one of our biggest.
