Our approach to AI in recruitment

bol interior office meeting room

AI is changing how we look for jobs, prepare for interviews and work. At bol, we see plenty of opportunities in that. Here's how we approach AI in recruitment, what we expect from candidates and what you can expect from us.

Our view on AI in recruitment

Applying for a job is an important step. You're sharing your experience, investing your time and considering whether a company is the right place for you. We want you to know what to expect, understand where you stand and feel confident that you're being treated fairly throughout the process.

We believe AI can help make recruitment clearer, more consistent and create more time for personal contact. At the same time, using AI comes with responsibilities, especially when personal information or evaluations are involved. We trust candidates to use AI thoughtfully, and we want you to have that same confidence in us.

Using AI when applying to bol

We welcome you using AI when applying to bol. It can be useful for researching a role, preparing for an interview or finding the right words for your application.

  • What can I use AI for during my application?

Plenty! We encourage you to use AI to explore opportunities, learn about bol and prepare for the recruitment process. You can research a role, understand unfamiliar topics, practise interview questions or prepare questions you'd like to ask us.

  • Can I use AI to write my CV or motivation?

Yes. AI can help you structure your CV, improve your writing or put your thoughts into words. Just make sure the final result accurately reflects your own experience, skills and motivation. We want to hear your story, in a way that feels like you.

  • Can I use AI to prepare for an interview?

Of course. You can use AI to practise interview questions, explore topics related to the role or prepare questions you'd like to ask us.

During the interview itself, we want to hear your own answers. Using AI to generate responses in real time or reading out AI-generated answers isn't allowed unless we've explicitly agreed otherwise.

  • What about using AI for an assignment or assessment?

That depends on the assignment and what we're trying to assess. AI can be useful for brainstorming ideas, structuring an approach or supporting coding tasks.

Sometimes we'll want to see how you work with AI. In other situations, we're interested in your independent thinking and abilities.

We'll make any specific expectations clear. Whatever the assignment, you should be able to explain your approach, choices and the work you've submitted.

  • Are there things I shouldn't use AI for?

Yes. We expect you to be honest about your experience and abilities. That means you shouldn't use AI to invent qualifications or examples, complete an assessment that requires your independent work, or present AI-generated answers as your own when we're specifically assessing your skills.

We want everyone to have a fair opportunity to show what they can do.

  • What if I'm not sure whether I can use AI?

Just ask your recruiter! We're happy to clarify what's expected at any stage of the process. We'd much rather have you ask than feel uncertain about what's allowed.

What you can expect from us

We take our own use of AI just as seriously. As new possibilities emerge, we consider where AI can add value and what it means for candidates. Here's what matters to us when making those choices.

People remain accountable

Whatever role AI plays in recruitment, people remain responsible for hiring decisions. We believe these decisions deserve careful human judgment and consideration.

We value personal contact

Getting to know each other is an important part of recruitment. We want AI to help create time for conversations, guidance and the personal attention candidates deserve.

We believe in clear communication

You should understand what to expect throughout your application. When AI plays a meaningful role in your experience or evaluation, we believe you should be able to understand how and why it's used.

We take fairness and privacy seriously

We carefully consider how AI could affect candidates. When personal data or evaluations are involved, we pay particular attention to fairness, privacy, explainability and the safeguards needed.

Authenticity matters

We want you to get to know the real bol, just as we want to understand your genuine experience and abilities. What we communicate should give you an honest picture of who we are and what you can expect from us.

Looking ahead

AI will continue to develop, and we'll keep exploring what it can offer recruitment. The tools and possibilities may change, but our approach to fairness, privacy, transparency and human responsibility will continue to guide the choices we make.
