The will to improve is part of our nature. In 1999 we opened Europe’s first online bookstore. Today, we are taking the lead in making e-commerce more sustainable. We are at the heart of society and feel responsible for making a positive contribution to it. Our mission: more sustainable shopping at bol.com.

Sustainable living is our new reality. We want to do better every day: from efficient packaging to using 100% local wind and solar energy in our buildings. Even deliveries are becoming more and more sustainable. As a bol.com employee, you can help to make the organisation more socially responsible. For example, from your role in logistics, working with our partners or as a volunteer.

Together with our network of colleagues, millions of customers, suppliers and sales partners, we want to make sustainable shopping easier. That is why we have set ourselves the goal of offering a sustainable alternative in each of our more than 11,000 product groups by 2022. We will make these products recognisable and easier to find in our shop. In this way, we help customers to make a conscious choice.

Bol.com is at the heart of society and we believe that everyone should have an equal opportunity to participate. That is why we founded bol.com bollebozen.

With colleagues and partners, we organise projects and activities to improve the language and digital skills of children in the Netherlands and Belgium. As a tech platform and Europe’s first online bookstore, we know a thing or two about this.

Climate-neutral shopping is the future. The measures we are taking to achieve this are already bearing fruit. Compared to 2018, CO2 emissions per package were already reduced by 39% in 2020. The climate-neutral fulfilment centre in Waalwijk is one of the most sustainable logistics buildings in the Benelux. We also used 12% fewer packaging materials in 2020 compared to the previous year. And 75% of our items are sent without any padding material at all. Every little step helps!
