Senior Logistics Process Engineer
Combining all parts of logistics into a smart network of warehouses and carriers

How do you make our customers happy?
When our customers receive their package at the time we promised them, at the place they indicated and with the products they ordered, we did a good job. When our customers decide to return a package, we would like to retain as much value as possible and minimize waste.
And, with 13M customers who can choose from over 32M products sourced by 51K partners and delivered from multiple warehouses and via multiple carriers, that’s a tall order.
Our goal is to optimally serve our customers in a cost-efficient way, through data-driven insights and intelligent steering of bol's logistics network. It calls for leveraging advanced data science models and complex software applications. Moreover, we need to balance different goals, from reducing costs and improving the customer experience to advancing our sustainability ambitions.
Your role is to connect these different elements and use data-driven insights to steer towards the best outcomes for our logistics network. You understand how data science, technology, processes and business objectives interact and are able to translate insights into decisions and improvements. Rather than being the technical expert building the models, you ensure their capabilities are effectively applied across the network.

What do you do as a Logistics Process Engineer?
Together with your team and stakeholders across bol, you explore complex logistics problems and identify opportunities. You look beyond the initial question to determine what problem actually needs to be solved and what solution creates the most value across the logistics network.
You translate analyses and theoretical solutions into workable, scalable and future-proof processes, using your data and analytical capabilities. You collaborate closely with experts, including developers, data scientists and operational stakeholders, and take ownership from initial problem definition through design and implementation to adoption.
Not all challenges come with a clear scope or predefined solution. As a Senior Logistics Process Engineer, you are comfortable navigating ambiguity. You create structure, determine the right approach, make trade-offs visible and bring stakeholders together around a common direction.
This position challenges both your analytical capabilities and your ability to influence. You crunch complex puzzles, connect the right people and ideas and assess impact beyond your immediate area. You use your powers of persuasion and communication to influence stakeholders across teams and domains, including senior stakeholders, and keep them aligned throughout the journey.
- Are enthusiastic about data-heavy IT and logistics innovations.
- Have a strong analytical mindset, dive deep into complex topics and translate data into actionable recommendations.
- Independently structure ambiguous problems and determine the right approach.
- Assess the impact of changes across the broader logistics network rather than optimizing an individual process in isolation.
- Own complex, cross-team logistics challenges from initial conception through implementation and adoption.
- Design reliable, scalable and future-proof processes.
- Focus on outcome over output and challenge teams and stakeholders to do the same.
- Dare to speak up, even when you do not have formal authority.
- Bring stakeholders with different priorities together and create alignment on complex trade-offs.
- Challenge existing assumptions and proposed solutions when they do not address the underlying problem.
- Act as a senior sparring partner for colleagues across Product, Tech, Data and Operations.
- Contribute to the Logistics Process Engineering craft by sharing your expertise, coaching less-experienced LPEs and strengthening our way of working.
