Your responsibilities as a Site Reliability Engineer

  • Make solutions infinitely scalable and future proof
  • Spot opportunities, translate these into compelling proofs of concepts

We are looking for someone who is willing to join a team of light-hearted and ambitious engineers on our company’s journey to the Cloud. An important part of our job is to tackle operational problems with software solutions. Aside from pushing for innovation in both our cloud and the datacentre infrastructure, we also participate in a standby rotation for maintaining uptime of our core infrastructure. Therefore, we’re looking for a versatile engineer who’s proficient in both software development and operations. It’s fine if you have more experience in software development or in operations, as long as you are willing to learn the other.

In our team we are free in the choice of technologies we use, and we are working with a plethora of different tools. Generally, the tooling we develop helps Bol.com employees to provision workloads in both the cloud and our datacentres. Most of our work nowadays revolves around a unique inhouse tool used by developers to provision resources in the cloud. In addition, we support the developer community that contributes to this ecosystem.

Do you have what it takes to develop great software, troubleshoot operational issues at scale and can take a silly joke once in a while? Do you have a brilliant idea on how we can improve things here at bol.com? Feel free! That’s the beauty of being a Site Reliability Engineer at bol.com.
