Please note that we do not offer relocation assistance for this position.
How do you make our customers happy?
With 13 million customers, 129 million monthly visits and about 36 million products on display, bol.com is the most successful online retail platform in The Netherlands and Belgium. And when we say ‘platform’, we mean it. Well over 52,000 external partners – and counting – enrich the product base. Data-driven, adventurous (making mistakes is no biggie, as long as learnings are shared), we intend to deliver on our promise to make life easier and more fun for customers. And that is exactly what our IT 900+ professionals do.
What you’ll do
As a Young Professional (Tech), you’ll be assigned to one of our autonomous teams in the role of a software engineer within IT. Each team is responsible for an individual aspect of our platform. Here, you will further develop and improve your team’s specific application (microservices). And the pace is fast, so your actions will have an immediate impact on customers and third party sellers. After your first year, you’ll switch to a different team to maximize the learning experience. The program gives you a unique opportunity to build software using your own skills and creativity. You’ll quickly discover the ins and outs of modern tooling, while fixing real problems. Together with your colleagues – people that share technological insights, ambitions and challenges continuously – you are a driver of change. And you’re allowed to make mistakes as long as you learn from them. We love technology and we love our work, but we’re not infallible. In our world, we take risks, move fast and learn quickly.
A focus on personal development
And the fun doesn’t stop there! The Young Professional Tech Program really wants to give you the best learning opportunities. That is why you will be working with your team for 4 days a week, and the remaining 1 day (usually a Friday) will be spent on personal development. It is completely up to you how you spend the time – as long as you are learning. You can complete online trainings, work with other Young Professionals on projects, or be part of one of the community blocks to help the program grow. The possibilities are endless.
Next to that this program offers a community of Young Professional peers to learn from and with each other. You’re more than welcome to join in the various Young Professional activities the community organizes. And finally, we believe that by joining this program you have potential to become our future tech leader. That’s why you will get trainings on hard skills which suit your role and passion, but also on soft skills that will help unlocking your potential.
No matter the space you’ll join, your tech stack may include:
- Java Kotlin
- Google Cloud stack
3 reasons why this is (not) for you
Switch to find out
- Because you’re done learning Because you know just about everything already; you’re done learning!
- Because open source is not for you Because you don’t believe open source (and giving back to the community) is the future.
- Because you won’t set foot in our games room Because you won’t (ever!) set foot in our games room or on our soccer field.
- Because you’re a recent graduate and you’re not done learning Because you have a relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (Computer Science, Software Engineering etc.) with up to 1 year professional working experience.
- Because you believe in teamwork Because you are a true team-player who can work in sync with the business.
- Because you are a born coder Because you are a born coder, you just have to discover what you want to code exactly.
It is our responsibility to enable an environment that unleashes the power of diversity.
